The LiFePO4 Advantage for Electric Motorcycles & Scooters
Faster, Lighter, Longer:
The LiFePO4 Advantage for Electric Motorcycles &
Scooters
By Voltiger | 2026
Electric motorcycles and scooters are exploding in popularity across
emerging markets. In Southeast Asia alone, over 10 million electric
two-wheelers hit the roads in 2025. But the experience of riding one depends
almost entirely on what sits beneath the seat: the battery. LiFePO4 technology
from Voltiger delivers three things every rider demands — faster acceleration,
lighter weight, and longer range.
Faster: Stable Voltage, More
Torque
Lead-acid batteries suffer from voltage sag — as the battery discharges,
voltage drops, and the motor receives less power. The result? Sluggish
acceleration, especially on hills, and a noticeable decrease in top speed as
the battery drains.
LiFePO4 maintains a flat voltage curve throughout the discharge cycle.
That means full motor power from 100% down to 10% SOC. Riders feel consistent
acceleration and top speed throughout their journey — no more “slow mode” when
the battery is half empty.
For high-speed electric motorcycles (64V–72V platforms), this voltage
stability is critical. Our 72V 70–100Ah packs deliver peak discharge currents
of 2C–3C, giving riders instant torque for overtaking and hill climbing.
Lighter: More Range, Less Weight
Weight is the enemy of electric vehicle efficiency. Every kilogram of
battery weight that does not store energy is a kilogram the motor must drag
around. LiFePO4 is 60–70% lighter than lead-acid at the same capacity.
Consider a 72V 90Ah battery pack:
•
Lead-acid:
approximately 85 kg
•
Voltiger LiFePO4:
approximately 32 kg
•
Weight savings:
53 kg — the equivalent of a full-grown adult passenger
That 53 kg weight reduction directly translates into longer range,
better acceleration, and reduced tire and brake wear. Or, you can use the
weight savings to increase battery capacity and extend range even further.
Longer: 3–5× the Lifespan
A typical lead-acid battery in a daily-driven electric scooter lasts
6–12 months before significant capacity loss. That means 1–2 replacements per
year — each costing time, money, and customer frustration.
Voltiger LiFePO4 batteries are rated for 2,500+ cycles at 80% depth of
discharge. For a daily commuter charging once per day, that translates to 5–7
years of service. For a delivery rider charging twice daily, expect 3–4 years.
Either way, the total cost of ownership over the battery’s lifetime is
dramatically lower than lead-acid.

Smart BMS: Ride Smarter
Every Voltiger 64V and 72V battery includes an intelligent Battery
Management System that protects the pack from over-charge, over-discharge,
over-current, and over-temperature. Optional Bluetooth connectivity lets riders
monitor SOC, voltage, and cell balance from a smartphone app — no more guessing
how much range is left.
